Now let's dive deeper! 1. Right now, what are you feeling? Look at this Instrument Panel from Lola Jones, creator of Divine Openings™ and simply notice where you are. That’s it. No making it wrong, no rushing to be somewhere else – just notice, accept and allow.
All emotion isenergy in motion(think: e+motion=emotion). Emotions higher on the Instrument Panel mean energy is flowing freely and moving more quickly; those closer to the bottom mean energy is more stagnant and flowing less quickly. Neither is better, although energy that flows freely feels better. All feelings are essential, valuable parts of our guidance system; we get into trouble only when we resist their message or make them wrong. It's our resistance that makes slower-moving emotion feel intolerable at times.
If you're feeling something uncomfortable and making it wrong or wanting to fix it, appreciate that you noticed. Now you have choices! (More on that below...) Wrong-making and trying to fix pull your attention away fromwhat is, thismoment. They pull you into thinking ('wrongness' is a mental interpretation) or doing. What I'm inviting you to experience here is being.
2. Now extend this awareness to your body: Where is this feeling vibrating in your body? Can you acknowledge it without judging or making it wrong - even if it doesn't feel good? A soft hand on the heart can remind you, "I'm here, forme" if the feeling is challenging to be with.
Identify sensations in your body tied to this feeling and get curious! Curiosity is attentive, interested and open. Curiosity is the antidote to judgment and wrong-making! What is there for you to get curious about? Is there tingling or heat or heaviness or numbness? What is there to simply notice and bring awareness to?
When you meet a feeling in this warm, curious, more direct way, you bypass any stories about it and open up space so that it can flow more easily. Emotional energy wants to flow, and it naturally flows in a better-feeling direction. Our part is learning how to let it!
Being with a feeling, especially if your habit has been to ignore or avoid, will unlock vast energy you've tied up resisting what is.
3.What feelings do you make wrong? Is anger taboo, or do you judge yourself for feeling sad, afraid, frustrated or impatient? When you judge or make any feeling wrong, you add a layer of story or interpretation that solidifies and prevents it from more easily moving and rising in vibration. Eventually, unwanted situations may arise to show you where you're not letting energy move.
What happens when you bring acceptance instead? "This is how I'm feeling right now. It doesn't make sense for me not to accept it. Where is my focus? Is it in my head (judging) or in my body (experiencing)? How can I support myself so I canbewith it?"
4.Certain feelings will make you uncomfortable. That doesn't make them wrong! If you can remember that every emotion provides valuable information, it becomes a little easier to find some appreciation for the feeling - even if it doesn't feel good.
When you are able to soothe and be there for yourself through any of life’s inevitable challenges, you realize that challenging situations become ...acceptable. This is huge! The reward is an end to suffering.
If you catch yourself judging a feeling today, notice how judgment turns an entirely appropriate “I don’t like this” or “this doesn’t feel good” into an utterly immovable “this is wrong.” Feel the difference between the two! Notice what happens in your body when you make a feeling wrong; notice the effort that holding in, holding back and holding down takes. Feel how everything stops moving!
All feelings, especially ones that don't feel good, are simply showing where your presence is needed- your kind, curious allowing and acceptance. Your presence thaws, softens and allows energy to flow in a better-feeling direction.
5.Thinking and telling stories about feelings are not the same as feeling them. Drop the story and feel the feeling! That's where your power is.
Storiesaboutwhat you're feeling, why you're feeling that way, or how you're justified in feeling it keep the feeling alive and vibrating - and keep you stuck. Being with a feeling gives it space to be. And since the essential beingness of emotion is movement, you give it space to move. (See 1 above!)
As you drop from your head (story: "this is wrong!") into your body (experience: "this is!"), you commune with life in a very direct and powerful way. Each time you tune into how an emotion feels in your body - hand on heart, with kindness, acceptance and curiosity - you're saying yes to life. Life always responds to your willing yes with a YES of its own!
When you bring warm, interested attention to the heaviness in your belly, the squeezing through your chest, the pulsing in your head, or your clenched hands or held breath, your presence softens and opens space for life to move even difficult things for you;life softens and transforms feelings the same way it thaws and transforms ice - from solid to liquid to vapor - progressively lightening and lifting even cold, heavy things. As feelings are allowed to flow, they rise up the Instrument Panel.Your part is to provide the necessary conditions.
How can you make it easier for life to say YES to you today?
6. Where are you currently swimming upstream, doinga lot but seeing very little result? Pause and feel into the outcome you desire and get curious: how do you want to feel on the other side of this? Can feel yourself intothat state right now and simply soar, float, appreciate and enjoy? Daydream, play and have fun with this!
When you remember that vibration is ground zero of creation, getting yourself lined up nonphysicallymakes sense! It pre-paves the way for your physical-world creation.
What could happen if you let go of doingfor a bit and spent time in this being state? Afterwards, from a place of more ease and possibility, there will be greater clarity about what steps to take next.
8. What does 'being in the flow' mean to you? What kinds of things bring you into that state? How often do you do those things? Could you do these things more often than you are??
9. Watch the movieSurf’s up, a Divine Openings™ favorite! It has amazing music and a wonderful story about staying in the flow. You won’t be disappointed! Definitely watch with the kids! 10. Listen: These water songs speak so deeply to me. As you listen, let them flow through...maybe with a hand on your heart.
